HISTORY OF HOLY DAYS

  1. Easter and Palm Sunday are so very ingrained in our culture and in the modern day church. We have fellow Christians wishing us Happy Easter or Happy Resurrection Day. As a believer why wouldn’t we rejoice in the resurrection of our precious Savior. But all I can think of when I hear these greetings is that these are Rome’s “holidays” why are we acknowledging them. We born again believers celebrate our Lord 365 24/7. We don’t need to acknowledge Rome’s “holidays” in any way. “Holidays” that do not bring honor to the Lord, “holidays” associated with bunnies and colored eggs. Yet if this is expressed we are thought to be strange in our thinking. A former Jesuit priest who was born again and left the Roman Catholic Church asked why the Protestants are closing their Christian schools during Rome’s “Holy Week”. A rarity to hear such words. Believers
in our day are more entrenched in Rome than they realize. Lord give us grace…

    1. Very well said. Protestants and Evangelicals have stopped separating the holy from the profane. No love for the truth of God’s Word on the matter. Yesterday, Family Radio suggested I read an article about the true origins of Easter, saying that its a Christian holiday. I suggested he read the encyclopedia and then gave a couple of scriptures, too. Sad. Like X Mass, the Jesus of this holiday is not the Beloved One found in the Bible.

Have a blessed day, sis! \o/

    1. Its Sunday to him, I believe. I would have to relisten to the series again to find out. But I am sure he is not a Sabbatarian.. To me, Sabbath is on Saturday and the Lord’s Day is Sunday. As a Gentile believer I am not obligated to worship services on a Saturday. But I don’t consider those who celebrate feast days and the Sabbath as heretics so long as Jesus is the fulfillment of them.
