    For tomorrow’s lecture on worship we will begin . . . the Ten Commandments?
    Why talk about the commandments?
    Because people misunderstand forms of worship to be a matter of style. Worship is based on what people want to do rather than God’s law.
    If we got right into the Directory for the Public Worship of God, then it could easily be misunderstood as just another “worship style” to choose from (and just as easily dismissed).
    But worship is far from a matter of preference. The very Law of God has something to say about it. Worship is not a matter of “style”, it’s a matter of right and wrong, of true and false. And that is why we begin with the commandments that concern the worship of God. Because worship is not an indifferent matter; “agree to disagree.” There is right and true worship, and if we don’t yield to the Decalogue, we commit wrong and false worship. How we worship God is a moral issue.
