What is Apostasy?

It is a making shipwreck of the faith (1 Tim. 1:19). It is the heart’s departure from the living God (Heb. 3:12). It is a returning to and being overcome by the world, after a previous escape from its pollutions through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 2:20). There are various steps which precede it. First, there is a looking back (Luke 9:62), like Lot’s wife, who though she had outwardly left Sodom, yet her heart was still there. Second, there is a drawing back (Heb. 10:38): the requirements of Christ are too exacting to any longer appeal to the heart. Third, there is a turning back (John 6:66): the path of godliness is too narrow to suit the lustings of the flesh. Fourth, there is a falling back, which is fatal: “that they might go and fall backward, and be broken” (Isa. 28:13). ~A.W. Pink, Source

      1. Sherry, my husband’s Dad passed away two weeks ago, that’s why I haven’t been as involved with friends and blogging. Hope you’re well!!

        1. I’m so sorry to hear that! My condolences! I’ve been fighting a cold, sinusitis and my allergies have me poohed out. Its been this whole month of April! Most of my online time has been listening to sermons while under an afghan, lol. I hope you are feeling better, my friend~

  1. Glad you made good use of the time, dear Sherry! And that you were able to rest!

Thank you for your kindness about Dad! Dad was an interesting man, natural born teacher who taught a good deal of his working life in middle school, generous and loving. Maybe I will post about what was supposed to be a sad experience but wasn’t. \o/
Please pray for his wife, Sally. My Tom’s Mother died many years ago and his Dad married Sally, of whom so much good can be said. My heart is full. Dad’s last months were an incredible answer to prayer, especially Tom’s, and the Lord’s faithfulness.
Make sure you get your rest! Prayers for hubs and son, tail wags to Lucy from Greta!!

    1. Thanks for the prayers! Yes, I will pray for Sally-may God be manifest to her as the One who cares for the widows. Please do write a post on it! I love testimonies about our Lord’s loving and merciful ways.

      God be praised! \o/
