The Pagan/Papist Ash Wednesday and Lent

From: The Pagan origins of Ash Wednesday & Lent by Peter Salemi

This ritual of Ash Wednesday and Lent has solidified its place in the Catholic Church and many of the protestant daughters of the Catholic Church like the Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists, some Baptists, etc.…This Apostate Church committed fornication with the pagan gods of the people-spiritual adultery. She took up pagan practices and made them her own calling it “Christian.” Incorporated them into her system of religious worship; but are really the Babylonian Mystery Religion and not the religion of Christianity.

In his book The Two Babylon’s, Alexander Hislop discovered this about Lent: “Whence, then, came this observance?  The forty days abstinence of Lent was directly borrowed from the worshippers of the Babylonian goddess [Ishtar who became eventually Easter the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring]…Such a Lent of forty days was observed in Egypt… This Egyptian Lent of forty days, we are informed by Landseer, in his Sabean Researches, was held expressly in commemoration of Adonis [Nimrod or Tammuz] or Osiris, the great mediatorial god….Among the Pagans this Lent seems to have been an indispensable preliminary to the great annual festival in commemoration of the death and resurrection of Tammuz, which was celebrated by alternate weeping and rejoicing, and which, in many countries, was considerably later than the Christian festival, being observed in Palestine and Assyria in June, therefore called the ‘month of Tammuz;’ in Egypt, about the middle of May, and in Britain, sometime in April. To conciliate the Pagans to nominal Christianity, Rome, pursuing its usual policy, took measures to get the Christian and Pagan festivals amalgamated, and, by a complicated but skilful adjustment of the calendar, it was found no difficult matter, in general, to get Paganism and Christianity now far sunk in idolatry in this as in so many other things, to shake hands….” (pp.104-105, emphasis added).

“Christianity DID NOT destroy paganism- it ADOPTED IT.” ~ Will Durant

Consider This…

2 Kings 17 reveals that God’s patience does run out where the paganized worship of Him is concerned…christianized paganism leads to paganized worship of God which does descend into worship of another god, another Jesus. And, is not pagan/papist “holy” days, traditions and rituals, an idol when one cannot loose their grip of them when confronted with God’s Word saying, do not do as the heathen do for their gods in our worshiping Him? If one must justify, apart from scriptural authority, or, with scriptures contorted, doing that which God forbids then the thing being done is an idol.

Now, if God judged and punished the Israelites for their syncretic worship of Him, why do Christians believe they will get a pass for doing the same?

Facts and Scriptures on X Mass Observation

What you are about to read is not my opinion. You are about to read facts which I will support using Scripture. I have no agenda other than my life’s purpose of being an ambassador for Christ.

Believe it or not, the celebration of Christmas, is not a celebration of the birth of Jesus as you were told in church or at school. Christmas has nothing to do with The Bible or with Yehoshua (Jesus’ real name). Rather, Christmas is a successful attempt to Christianize a previously pagan festival. The reasoning behind this passing off of paganism as Christianity is because as Europe surrendered to Christendom (a completely different phenomenon not to be mistaken for Christianity or Christ follower-ship), it became necessary in the eyes of the various kingdoms of Europe that merged with the Holy Roman Catholic Church to Christianize their pagan holidays and bring about a Catholic (the word Catholic simply means universal. It does not mean Christian) or acceptable holiday.

Thus Samhain became known as Halloween, the pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice known as Yule (hence the term Yuletide) became Christmas and the celebration of the goddess named Ēostre, became Easter.

In truth, whether called by their original pagan names or their new Christendom names, none of these festivals appear in the Bible (the King James Version deliberately translates Passover as Easter in Acts 12:4 mostly because of King James’ strong association with demonology, but all other translations reject that and left it how the original Greek Scriptures described it-Passover).
