It’s that time of year again. Besides turkey, we have Black Friday sales and pre Black Friday sales, all in preparation for the big day… Christmas! But what has all this to do with Jesus our Savior? Can you picture the apostle Paul Christmas shopping, or going around wishing everyone a Merry Christmas? Can you picture Peter doing that? How about Jesus? This is crazy what we as born again Christians are doing! (I don’t do it anymore.) And it is without a doubt unbiblical to celebrate a Roman Catholic day that is pagan at its roots! Some food for thought as we enjoy our Thanksgiving dinners.

The true difference between Legalism and Holiness is that Legalism is a self set standard that men do in a futile attempt to please God… It is outward only. God is not fooled.
Real Holiness is a heart separated unto the Lord. It does or does not do based upon a willing obedience to the Spirit of God in the believer’s life. It permits the believer to obey God out of a heart to serve Him, and not out of a fear of punishment from Him. Legalism seeks to show others how “spiritual” a person is, and condemns those who don’t follow the same standard. Holiness seeks to please God, apart from what others think.
And guess what? Without Holiness, no man will see the Lord .(Heb 12:14)
You remember John Knox’s memorable saying, when he turned the Romanists out, he went straight away to pull down their chapels. He gathered the mob together, and began to overhaul the whole of their places of worship. Why should John Knox meddle with them? ” I’ll pull the nests down,” said he, “then I shall be sure that the birds will never come back.” So I would today.
