The bleak truth about most people who claim to be Christians today is that their foundation of belief is mainly built on what mere mortals like themselves say and do and on the traditions and commandments of the same mere mortals instead of being built solely and solidly on the word of God.
In other words, many Christians do what is right in their own eyes (or in the eyes of other humans and/or organizations), not recognizing, as was the pattern of Israel throughout the Old Testament, that we, like they, have a King whose authority we are under and whom we are subject to, should be wholeheartedly loyal to, and to whom we owe our complete, total and uncompromised allegiance, obedience, honor, respect, and love.

When God commands us not to have anything to do with idols and idolotrous practices in the worship of Him and we continue to do it (for we are emotionally attached to these pagan/papist traditions of men “holy” days!) then we are holding onto idols that are an abomination in His sight. As painful as it may be we must rid ourselves of all idolotry for our Lord’s sake, for what has He to do with the admixture of Christo-paganism? Let’s stop worshipping our idols-X Mass and Easter- which is all about another “Jesus.”

When we come before God, it will be no excuse for us to say, “My Lord, I did wrong, but I thought I was doing right.” “Yes, but I gave you my law, but you did not read it; or, if you read it, you read it so carelessly that you did not understand it, and then you did wrong, and you tell me you did it with a right motive. Yes, but it is of no avail whatever.” Just as in Uzzah’s case, did it not seem the rightest thing in the world to put out his hand to prevent the ark from slipping off? Who could blame the man? But God had commanded that no unpriestly hand should ever touch it, and inasmuch as he did touch it, though it was with a right motive, yet Uzzah must die. God will have His laws kept. Besides, my dear brethren, I am not sure about the rightness of your motives after all. The State has issued a proclamation, it is engraven, according to the old Roman fashion, in brass. A man goes up with his file, and he begins working away upon the brass; erases here, and amends there. For meditation: Sincerity needs to be allied to truth (Joshua 24:14). It is possible to be sincerely wrong (John 16:2; Acts 26:9; Romans 10:2).
